Born and raised along the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Greenville, SC, Joseph later studied interdisciplinary studies at the University of North Carolina. He moved to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina at age 23 to continue his studies and open and manage a beauty salon.
